Clan Ads

I removed two clan links, because it seems that the agreement has come that we won't have the clan pages at the bottom. It's not fair for only some to be there, and if they are all there, than there are too many. If any more clan links are added, i think that we should delete them. --Alexbrewer 01:45, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Cheats Section

Looks like a cut and paste job from Gamefaqs or the like. Would anybody object if I deleted the section? If there are others supporting this, or there is no response, I will delete the section sometime on Friday 14th Saberwyn 03:37, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Looks like The Wookiepedian beat me to it. Thanks!

Quick question: Is it really C3PO that briefs you on the missions? It doesn't seem like C3PO as per his voice and there isn't any indication in the game of the droid's name. Just wondering... I would like to change this, unless someone is absolutely sure it is him. Skypoper

To modify/create levels for Jedi Academy, you require a program called GTKradiant. This can be aquired from http://www.qeradiant.com/ where the latest versions are kept. The version you would require is 1.4. Tutorials for learning how to use GTKradiant can be found on http://map-craft.com/ where a small community is available for help and support while learning to use GTKradiant. Another helpful website is http://map-review.com/ which hosts a number of tutorials and has mapping competitions and reviews of other modifications.
The GTKradiant editor is very similar to the Doom 3 editor in that it uses the same type of interface, however the Doom 3 editor has the advantage of real-time rendering instead of a static camera view.

Note: You must have full health. You will be inside the Rancor. Kill it to get free. At first, it appears as if you are in spectator mode, but you are not. You and no one else can see your character, even if they have level 3 Sense. You can still attack people and ride vehicles. Access all saber types at any stage in the gameIn the early stages of the game you only have the choice of one single saber. If you want to use the dual sabers or saber staff do the following: 1. Go to the 'GameDataBase' folder 2. Open 'jaconfig.cfg' in wordpad (wordpad sorts out the encoding making it easier to read) 3. Go to the line which starts ' seta g_saber_type 'single' '4. Replace that line and the next 4 lines with the following: If you want 1 single saber: seta g_saber_type single seta g_saber single_1 seta g_saber2 single_1 seta g_saber_color blue // change this color to what ever you want e.g. blue, green, red seta g_saber2_color blue // change this color to what ever you want e.g. blue, green, red If you want 2 single sabers: seta g_saber_type dual seta g_saber single_1 seta g_saber2 single_1 seta g_saber_color blue // change this color to what ever you want e.g. blue, green, red seta g_saber2_color green // change this color to what ever you want e.g. blue, green, red If you want the dual bladed saber staff (think Darth Maul): seta g_saber_type staff seta g_saber dual_2seta g_saber2 dual_2 seta g_saber_color red // change this color to what ever you want e.g. blue, green, redseta g_saber2_color red // change this color to what ever you want e.g. blue, green, red 5. From the main menu press [Shift]+[~] to access the console.6. Type: map yavin1b (See the note at the bottom)7. And your off... NOTE: Do not start a new game otherwise the file is overwritten. This is the first level that you actually play and this skips the overwrite when you select the saber. If you have not chosen your character settings yet do this first, start the game and then exit. Perform the actions above and when you start your player settings will be there, enjoy! There is obviously a setting to change the saber hilts however I cannot find it. If someone has or does find it please tell me!

Dual lightsabers

Deuxhero has changed the bit about Jaden using two lightsabers like Anakin to have an external link to wookiepedia to explain it. I think that the original wording was better as most users are likely to be familiar with Anakin's actions in Episode II. What do people think about this? Should it be left as it is or reverted/changed to something else? To compare the two versions of the page, look at the [[1]] from the history page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tim from Leeds (talk • contribs) .

I changed it back and added a little to it. Should be better. K1Bond007 23:57, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Jedi Knight 4

What has this speculative section got to do with Jedi Academy? It's speculation about the game series, and the article is about a specific game within the series. Am I right to want to get rid of it, especially given how vague it is? I'll remove it if someone else agrees --Tim 23:27, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. --FireV 02:14, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Cultist Masters

Okay, This is weird. A user who normally edits Cultist (Star Wars) has added an image (to that article, not this one) of two Cultists that have Green Clothing, yet weild lightsabers. I imagine this might be either photoshopped, color distortion, or a preview image of an early design of Cultists that were dropped before the final release (to which this should be deleted since this is not canon). However, I'm willing to investigate: Might any of you have knowledge of an alternate version of the game? See, I have the game, but I've never encountered Cultists with that color scheme with a lightsaber. If this is the result of a mod, then it should also be deleted since mods aren't canon and are only bred for personal use or having more fun with the game. I'm willing to delete it and rephrase it anyway because, no offense to that editor, but his explanations of the characters corresponding to the image use personal words and less neutral language than is preferred. However, if it's false, not canon, image distortion/photoshop/preview image, or a mod, I'll just delete the whole thing. I'm not doing anything 'till I figure it out. The Wretched 06:58, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Here's the image:

(Fair use image removed by ImageBacklogBot due to use in non-article space.)

You know, nevermind. It's obviously not canon... The Wretched 17:51, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

You can get these cultist simply by using a few npc spawn cheats, but I haven't encountered any in the game normally that I can remember. Although this DOES appear to be a prototype screenshot. It looks like an unfinished version of the t3_hevil map, on which cultists do not appear. There are several missing objects on the map in this screenshot meaning it is probably from a prototype version of the game. 206.45.169.28 20:31, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

About Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy

I have two jedi academy games, the PC version and also the XBox version. They've put the original JK II Jedi Outcast Chiss bartender to Nar Kreeta in Jedi Academy. WHY? On the XBox version there is no bartender in Nar Kreeta and I'm sure that LucasArts has saved a npc_spawn cheat to the PC version of Jedi Academy. If you are attacking the bartender from Nar Kreeta, he doesn't give a voice and that's the same with the npc_spawn cheat. With npc spawn you can unlock Jedi Outcast characters to the single playermode. And they also don't give a voice.

Feature removed in Jedi Academy

I noticed this was not mentioned and went ahead and put it in since it is not really a big issue or anything. It can be deleted if people find it to not belong here... But I don't see that happening...

Here is what I added in the features/what differs from the previous games section: 'Removal of the First Person Lightsaber view that can be found in both Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast.'

Is Jedi Academy really Jedi Knight part 3?

I don't think that Jedi Academy is the third part of Jedi Knight, otherwise there would be signed 'Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy'.OK, it is the continue of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, but with the same graphic. I've also got Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith. Mysteries of the Sith is also a continue of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, but there is written that Mysteries of the Sith is the companion to Jedi Knight Dark ForcesII. And it also has the graphic as Jedi Knight Dark ForcesII.

Unfortunatley, it is. Not sure where, but I know that LEC has stated this is JK III. I'll look for a source now. IfritZero 23:06, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Why unfortunatley? I know that the Singleplayermode is less interesting than his previous one. Morris Munroe 18:09, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

JK 2-characters in JK 3-Multiplayermode

Why did they add all characters from Jedi Knight 2 to the Multiplayermode of Jedi Knight 3? I mean, that's a very good idea but why did they add these characters? *I'm just curious* Morris Munroe 16:03, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Accidental Widespread Beta Release for JKA

I know that months before this game was released, there was a beta version that got leaked to the Internet and circulated quite a bit (I know because I played it on someone else's computer). This beta was a very near complete version of the game, with just a few cutscenes and NPC animations missing. I'm not sure how to find sources for this, but I will try if anyone thinks it's relevant to the article. Let me know. AceHarding 15:53, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

VG Assessment

This is in regards to the request at the VG Assessment page. I'm rating this article as Start-class, Low-importance. Here are a few tips to improve it!

Alright, just format wise, this article is pretty bad off. The random indent in the story section needs to go, and there shouldn't be any lists, bulleted or no. That aside, the entire Changes from JOutcast section is all off - there should be a separate gameplay section, talking about the gameplay of JAcademy without mentioning or referring to any of the other games, then a section comprised of one or two paragraphs describing the changes from JOutcast. There needs to then be a Reception section, which has what critics and reviewers have said about the game. Throughout the article, you need to have citations to outside sources for any statement that could be questioned- remember, whether it's true or not, when someone reads the article they should never have to take anything on faith that whoever wrote the article was correct. This is just the big stuff, not detailed points- just enough to get the article to B-class. As it stands, the article is a pretty low Start-class, and needs a major rewrite. For further suggestions, please see the various video game Featured articles and Good articles for more ideas about improving the article- there are several FPS's and Action games that you can look at. --PresN 22:35, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Knights of the Force (KotF) Weblink removed

it seems as if this is not a an 'expension pack' for but a giant scam:

guy asks for donations, comments on youtube trailer are disabled, forum 'under construction', demo triggers virus-alarm..., release date is delayed...

this is very fishy!!! my internet 'someone tries to f*** with you'-alarm-sensors are ringing loud and clear...

try google-search for 'kotf + scam' and judge for yourself...

I know this is no hard evidence but i'd rather be on the safe-side anyway and remove the link before more people get potentially scammed. better safe than sorry!

You need to add a fair use rationale to the image's description page. Una LagunaTalk 21:27, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

And how do I add that? Quietmartialartist (talk) 16:09, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the help... Anyway, how do you like the other ones? Quietmartialartist 05:02, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

They're all pretty good as screenshots (assuming you're talking about the 6 screenshots you've linked to above); however I don't think we really need them in the article, simply because they're all basically showing 80-90% of the same information. If you look at Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, there are four screenshots: one shows saber combat, one shows the two main protagonists, one shows the two main antagonists, and one shows multiplayer/gun combat. Each screenshot shows a different aspect of the game. I think the one screenshot of multiplayer action you've got at the moment should be adequate to show multiplayer games. Too many screenshots is a violation of fair use, so we need a high information:screenshot ratio.
The other two screenshots are promotional: they're unconventional, they're watermarked and they show pretty much exactly the same thing. I think we should replace one of both of them with a screenshot showing single player saber combat. Una LagunaTalk 06:46, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

I meant: Do you like any of the other 6 screenshots better than the one I've got posted.

And I'll work on getting a decent single player screenshot. Quietmartialartist (talk) 02:02, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

It's a file by the name of 'eiz-scope.' I just looked for it on yahoo, but could not find where I downloaded it. The map you're referring to is CTF3 (the base Yavin map). If you have xfire, I can send you the file for the sniper if you would like. Quietmartialartist (talk) 21:52, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Endings revealed in the article

Does anyone else find this unethical? I suggest we delete them. Quietmartialartist (talk) 17:33, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Same as the discussion at Talk:Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast#Ending revealed in the article: per policy (WP:SPOILER), the endings are revealed as otherwise the article wouldn't be broad in coverage (as an encyclopedia article should be). Besides, you'd expect spoilers in a summary section. Una LagunaTalk 20:17, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

More Changes

I added two screenshots from the beginning of the game to the features section. I thought that would be a suitable place because of the relevant text in that section. I also removed the picture of saber dueling because it didn't really express any features that the picture two inches below in critical acclaim didn't already express.

I couldn't figure out how to group the two pictures above the same text. Feel free to fix that. Quietmartialartist (talk) 18:59, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

If you want the two images to be in the same box-with-a-caption you'll need to stick them together as one image, similar to Image:Methods.jpg. Image:Jediacademyscreen.jpg should be replaced with an equivalent screenshot which doesn't have a watermark (i.e. the LucasArts logo).
Seeing as initiative is now being taken to significantly expand and improve the article, I think I'll expand the todo list at the top of the page for further guidance. Una LagunaTalk 20:17, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Well that doesn't really explain how to do it. I seem to remember seeing two thumbnails one on top of the other in the same box with text underneath. Do you know know how to edit the code to achieve that?

I'll replace Image:Jediacademyscreen.jpg in due course after I've added enough text to those sections that the screenshots and existing text aren't bunched up. Quietmartialartist (talk) 21:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

If it can be done, then I've no idea how. A quick skim over WP:EDIT and WP:EIS don't show anything up, and if the code's anywhere it's there.

Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy Cheats Pc

And yes, I agree it would be a good idea to wait for more text before adding further images; it would be a little embarrassing if we had more images than words... Una LagunaTalk 23:03, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
